Quest Companion

For tasks on your terms. Even the ones you already did.

I'll be honest with you: I don't use Quest Companion the way a productivity app wants you to use it.

I forget to open it. Whole days go by where I'm doing actual things, and Quest Companion is just sitting there, untouched. And then the day winds down and I'm relaxed and I open the app and I think, hold on. I did a lot today, and I go in and log it. Just to show myself that I actually did something.

That's kind of empowering, it turns out.

Quest Companion doesn't care how you use it. There's no streak to protect, no notification guilting you back, no one on the other end checking whether you followed through. It's free, which means you didn't waste money on an app you're not using perfectly. You just use it when it's useful, and leave it alone when it's not.

The shopping list gets used the most, honestly. It's just handy. But the task list is for the days when I need to do things in a specific order and I have to get everything done. And for those days where having it written down and checked off actually matters.

And then there's the Cabinet of Charms and the Woodland Almanac. Complete just one quest a day and you get random ingredients. Mushrooms, berries, flowers, odd little things. You use them to craft charms, coins, books, and forest guardians, each one with its own story and art that gets revealed when you make it. There are over a hundred to discover. It's collecting, and it's fun, and it's proof that you didn't sit around all day doing nothing.

But the thing I keep coming back to is logging the tasks I already finished. At the end of a day where I did more than I gave myself credit for, being able to put those things in and see them checked off, that's the proof.
